The New Task Force Season is Here!

MACPA Task Forces

MACPA task forces are a direct pipeline to what is new and innovative in the accounting profession. Recently, tremendous changes in our profession have created new opportunities and many challenges. Task forces provide valuable resources for meeting those challenges head-on, ensuring a successful future for our profession.

We are quickly approaching the end of another task force year; a perfect time for current task force members to reevaluate their commitment, and for others to consider joining a task force for the first time. The MACPA offers more than 40 task forces that cover a wide range of issues including: accounting and auditing, communications, education, corporate governance, federal tax and international practice. There are also task forces serving every phase of the profession, from students to new professionals to corporate leaders!

“Task forces are a great opportunity to meet peers of the profession, to gain recognition and respect, and to have the opportunity to be invited to events of interest,” said New Professionals Task Force Vice Chair Patrick Dolan. “I have found that my time as a task force vice chair has helped me become a leader in my profession. Task forces are not only a great networking vehicle, they are also an opportunity to develop leadership skills and to stay current with our changing profession.”

Most task forces meet an average of two to four times per year and every attempt is made to accommodate the busy accounting seasons. Generally, meetings have a conference call option that addresses time, travel and cost considerations. Communications are quick and effective via e-mail and the MACPA web site. The task force year runs from September 1 - August 31 and most appointments are one year.

A short description of every MACPA task force mission is provided below. Members can view the full roster, meeting minutes, a listing of future meetings, and goals and objectives for each task force by simply clicking on the title of the task force below.

If you wish to join an existing task force or if you would like the Association to establish a task force for your industry, contact the Volunteer Services Department at 248-267-3711 or e-mail sward@michcpa.org.
