Members and Staff Participate in Breast Cancer Walk

The MACPA Team |
If you were downtown Detroit for the Race for the Cure on Saturday, June
11, you couldn’t have missed the 70-member strong MACPA team as they
made their way along the race route, proudly displaying bright blue MACPA
t-shirts.

were running in honor of on this bib. |
The MACPA-sponsored team, organized by the New Professionals Task Force
for the second year in a row as part of their community outreach efforts,
was comprised of MACPA members, staff, family and friends. The group either
ran or walked a one-mile or 3.1 mile race route starting on Woodward Avenue
to show their support for the 14th annual Komen Detroit Race for the Cure.
Showing further support, some MACPA team members obtained monetary
donations from the community for Friends of the Cure. These funds, along
with all proceeds from the Race, will help support breast cancer education,
research, screening and treatment programs. Seventy-five percent of all
proceeds raised from the event remain in the local community, while the
other 25 percent is allocated to national breast cancer research grants.

The Race, sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, is
one of 113 Race for the Cure events in the United States. Race organizers
report that total revenue was at an all-time-high record at more than $1.2
million.
