Donate to the MAF Fifth/Graduate Year Scholarship Program and Help the Next Generation of CPAs The Michigan Accountancy Foundation’s (MAF) Fifth/Graduate Year Scholarship provides critical financial resources that many Michigan accounting students rely on to complete their college education. The MAF, which is affiliated with the MACPA, has awarded approximately $152,000 in scholarships since 2003.
“CPAs have a wonderful opportunity to enhance the profession by contributing to the Michigan Accountancy Foundation scholarship program," said Stephen H. Epstein, President of MAF. "The primary mission of the Michigan Accountancy Foundation is to provide financial assistance to individuals who plan on pursuing a career in public accounting in Michigan. These scholarship are designed to assist students financially in completing the extra 30 hours required to become a Michigan CPA." In addition to making a difference in the lives of students, scholarship contributions can also be a way to recognize someone who has played an important role in your life or in the profession. Recent examples of this include scholarships named after individuals who've had an impact on the CPA profession. William J. Adams, who died Feb. 27 at the age of 70, mentored countless young people during his 45-year career as a CPA. He had a knack for helping to guide young professionals to success while treating them as an equal member of the team and honoring the unique perspective and skills they brought to the table. Now, with an MAF scholarship in his name, William J. Adams will continue to inspire young people pursuing accounting careers. Recently Bob Bogan, former executive director of the MACPA, offered to contribute a set amount annually in perpetuity. His donation will fund an annual scholarship in his name to help a prospective CPA candidate complete academic requirements. “My donation allows me to express my appreciation to the Michigan Association of CPAs for the opportunity to serve as executive director for 25 years, and as a Michigan Accountancy Foundation trustee for the past 32 years,” Bogan said. “I hope that others in our membership will also be able to give financial support to this worthy endeavor.” Consider making a donation to the MAF scholarship program today to ensure the success of the future generation of CPAs.
