Governor Approves Treasury Access
Provisions On February 7, Governor Jennifer Granholm signed into law nine of 12 House Bills that make up the Job Providers’ Bill of Rights. The package, designed to ease Michigan Department of Treasury red tape and protect taxpayers from unreasonable deadlines, received overwhelming support in both the Michigan House and Senate. Approved changes will include adding mechanisms for expediting the informal conference process, requiring auditors to inform taxpayers of potential refund opportunities and extending the deadlines for appealing Department of Treasury rulings.
