The MACPA commits to helping members grow, both personally and professionally. Through our efforts, the MACPA has become a one-stop-shop for the accounting professional. Whether you’re in public accounting, industry, government or education, or a future CPA, the MACPA ensures you’ll obtain first-rate professional education, discounted products and services, accounting-related news, valuable resources, networking and public service opportunities – and so much more.

Quality Educational Programming

Members receive significant CPE discounts. MACPA programming doesn’t just fulfill state licensing requirements, it also keeps you informed of professional developments. The MACPA features highly respected speakers and offers courses at locations throughout the state. Technology-driven CPE options, including new webcasts, have been implemented for members who prefer self-study or don’t have the time to leave their office. From the MACPA’s 300-plus conferences and seminars to a variety of self-study options, CPE offered at a discounted rate more than pays the cost of membership dues.

Educator members can attend the High School Leaders Conference, which reached 200 students and teachers at two events this year, the Michigan Accountancy Foundation Educators Symposium and the Spring Accounting Educators Conference. Educators learn the latest developments in accounting education and are equipped with lesson plans and other teaching tools at these events.

Great Prices on Products and Services

With your bottom line in mind, the MACPA developed partnerships to contract members-only pricing for products and services. By using our collective purchasing power to offer these savings programs, the MACPA has contracted rates unavailable to local retailers. Save on insurance premiums, office supplies, telecommunications services, shipping and so much more.

News to Keep You Informed

You could spend your day checking for the latest news from Treasury, the IRS, the SEC and a number of other organizations. However, the MACPA does it for you in
E-News & CPE
, a weekly electronic newsletter that keeps you up-to-date on the latest professional issues.

Leaders’ Edge, the electronic newsletter you're reading now, is published six times each year and is sent directly to your e-mail inbox. This newly developed online newsletter allows us to provide you with timely articles, updates and links that cover a cross-section of topics.

Industry Tools to Do Your Job

With a increasing percentage of members in industry roles, the MACPA has developed special tools and benefits for members in corporate finance. The MACPA’s partnership with the Center for Corporate Financial Leadership, a consortium of Midwest state CPA societies, allows us to provide knowledge resources, networking opportunities and career development.

Through an AICPA partnership, the MACPA brings you the Audit Committee Toolkit. This toolkit is offered at no charge to members who attend 2004 conference sessions on corporate governance and helps businesses abide by stipulations set forth in the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.

Task Force Involvement for Networking

More than 40 task forces invite members to serve and develop niche expertise.

Members have access to many networking and public service opportunities. From preparing tax returns for low-income families in conjunction with the Volunteer Accounting Services Team of Michigan to volunteering to teach elementary students important business basics using Junior Achievements’ prepared lesson plans, the MACPA offers a number of ways for you to meet peers and serve your community.

A Voice in Lansing

Using our collective power, the MACPA communicates with legislators on your behalf to protect and promote the CPA profession in Lansing. Our MACPA PAC continues to gain importance among legislators, with 93 percent of the candidates backed by the MACPA PAC victorious in the last election cycle.
