Women Accountants’ Professional Mission
to South Africa
Have you always thought about going to South Africa but have not been
able to make it happen? HERE is the opportunity to enhance your business
and fulfill your personal goal.
Join the delegation of women in accounting on a professional and cultural
mission to South Africa. Under the auspices of People to People Ambassador
Programs, a group of up to 25 women in and associated with accounting will
travel to South Africa in November 2007. Group leader Judith Trepeck invites
all female members of MACPA to consider joining the delegation.
Over ten days, the group will meet with the South African Institute of
Chartered Accountants (SAICA), government officials, business owners, their
CFOs and their staff and public accounting practitioners. Participants will
gain first-hand knowledge about business practices, opportunities,
partnership models and South African cultural norms to take back and share
with colleagues.
“The world is getting smaller and that phenomenon impacts accountants in
public practice, private accounting, education and government alike,” says
Trepeck, a Michigan Tax Tribunal Judge. “The South African Institute of
Chartered Accountants sits at the table among the largest 13 Institutes in
the world. They affect the policy and decisions of our profession worldwide.
In addition, their economy contains prominent business and government units
that would give us great insight into international issues and business
opportunities for us all.”
Two years ago, a similar delegation of women accountants visited the Peoples
Republic of China with group leader Debbie Michael, CPA, president of the
American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA).
“You will have the opportunity to exchange information with an unprecedented
array of accounting professionals,” said Michael. “On the China trip, the
insight and business practices to which we were exposed was incredible. I’m
confident the South African trip will be a tremendous experience”.
