AICPA Files Suit After
Enforcement Delays of 'Red Flags' Rule
The AICPA filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of
Columbia seeking an injunction barring the Federal Trade Commission from
applying its so called Red Flags Rule, which would impose onerous and
unnecessary requirements on AICPA members.
2010: A Pivotal Election
Year
The November 2010 election will be the most significant yet for Michigan.
Estimates place the number of new faces coming to Lansing in January of 2011
as high as 100. 2010 also is a census year. As a result, the State House,
State Senate and U.S. Congressional district lines will be re-drawn in 2011

Sales Tax on Services
In late October, House Bills 5527, 5528, 5529 and House Joint Resolution KK
were introduced in the Michigan House of Representatives. This legislative
package seeks to expand the Michigan Sales and Use Tax base to include all
services, reduce the rate from 6% to 5% and eliminate the surcharge on the
Michigan Business Tax (MBT).
