Legislative & Regulatory
Legislative Breakfast Series

Since the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, accountancy, business and corporate regulation have become top priorities for elected officials at all levels when considering the corporate governance, accounting transparency and protecting the public interest. A new Political Education Fund (PEF) Legislative Breakfast Series will provide a forum for MACPA members to stay informed and provide feedback.

A five-part breakfast series, featuring keynote speakers from around the state, starts this fall and will serve as “warm-up” sessions for upcoming conferences hosted by the MACPA. The first session on October 7, just prior to the Nonprofit Conference and Agribusiness Conference – both at the Lansing Center – will feature U.S. Congressman Mike Rogers.

Other legislative breakfasts will feature Senate Majority Leader Ken Sikkema, State Treasurer Jay Rising and Speaker of the House Craig DeRoche. The keynote guests will discuss their take on the accounting profession as it relates to their experiences working in state government, while attendees will have the opportunity to network in a casual breakfast setting. Registration is open for all of the following events:
