CPAs: Renew Your License Online

CPAs can renew their licenses online with the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Growth. An advantage of online renewal is that you will be able to immediately confirm completion of the renewal process. Plus, CPAs who renew online will receive their licenses much faster, in five to 10 days compared to three weeks or more via regular mail renewal.

Licensing Administrator Suzanne Jolicoeur reports that CPAs who have pop-up blockers on their computers are unable to obtain a receipt/confirmation of their transaction. A program is under development to send an e-mail receipt, but it is not yet available. In the meantime, affected CPAs can access the Department’s online database a day or two after their transaction to confirm their license has renewed or, that they have reported sufficient CPE if their license has not been renewed. From the State Board’s web site select Verify a License or Check Your Continuing Education Credits Online.

Currently, licensees requiring name changes will need to renew their license by mail. Also, if Department records do not have your social security number and birth date correct, you will not be able to renew via the Internet. You will need to notify the Department in writing of your license number, social security number and birth date in order to facilitate online license renewal in the future.
