Governor Jennifer Granholm appointed two new members to the Michigan State Board of Accountancy, the regulatory body governing CPAs in Michigan.

Richard G. David, CPA, a Bloomfield Hills resident and partner with KPMG LLP – Detroit was appointed as a professional member for a term ending June 30, 2009. He succeeds Richard M. Gabrys, CPA.

Thomas R. Weirich, CPA, a Mt. Pleasant resident and professor of accounting at Central Michigan University was appointed as a professional member for a term ending June 30, 2009. He succeeds Edward S. Kisscorni, CPA.

In addition, the State Board elected new officers. The new chair is Beth Bialy, CPA, Plante & Moran; vice chair is Alan Young, CPA, Alan C. Young & Associates; and secretary is Sally Fedus (public member).
