Accountancy Foundation Invests in CPA Profession’s Future The Michigan Accountancy Foundation (MAF) continues to breathe life into its commitment to support excellence in accounting education and assist tomorrow’s CPAs. Over the past two years, 28 scholarships have been awarded to fifth/graduate-year accounting students. From Wayne State University to Aquinas College and from Michigan State University to Michigan Tech University, scholarship recipients are crediting the scholarship with allowing them to stay focused. “By lessening my financial burden, the MAF has given me the opportunity to concentrate on obtaining my CPA certification and developing myself professionally,” said Western Michigan University Bachelor’s of Business Administration student Laura Courtade. “I look forward to a devoted career in public accounting and with the MACPA, something for which I will always have the MAF to thank.” The MACPA Board of Directors recently appointed seven new trustees to the Michigan Accountancy Foundation. “It is an honor to be involved in encouraging and assisting the development of Michigan’s future CPAs.” said MAF Trustee Pat Kurtz. The trustees are currently evaluating and modifying the Foundation’s mission statement to allow for continued support to students and educators and they are planning the 2004 Educators’ Symposium, which is sponsored in part by Schoolcraft College. Symposium registration is complimentary to educators and students. The CPA future rests on those who are trained to take their place, so do your part to support the Foundation and its efforts. Contributions can be made as cash or auction item donations, or by becoming a MAF Educators Symposium sponsor (various levels of sponsorship range from $100 to $750). Your contribution is recognized at MACPA-sponsored events, including the Symposium, and on a special section of the MACPA web site. Fellow, Fund Partner and Fund Leader Contribution levels provide additional recognition opportunities. Established in 1961, MAF is affiliated with the MACPA and is a 501(c)3 organization funded by voluntary contributions. |
