Five Michigan Students Awarded AICPA Minority Scholarships

The AICPA Minority Initiatives Committee has awarded 157 AICPA scholarships to minority accounting students for the 2004-2005 academic year.

Totaling $488,000, the scholarships benefited accounting students representing 107 colleges and universities across the country, including five in Michigan.

Tameka L. Gee – Michigan State University
Melanie N. Glover – University of Michigan – Ann Arbor
LaTasha L. Thomson – University of Michigan – Ann Arbor
Antoinette M. Fulton – Walsh College

The scholarships are awarded to outstanding minority students who have satisfactorily completed at least 30 semester hours of college work with at least six semester hours in accounting and have an overall grade point average of 3.3.

The scholarships are funded by the AICPA Foundation from monies contributed by the AICPA, its members, public accounting firms and others. The program has been in existence for more than 20 years and has awarded more than $6 million in scholarships.

Applications for the 2005-2006 scholarship program will be available in March 2005 and can be downloaded from AICPA’s web site.
