AICPA Ethics Expert Meets
with MACPA Task Force

Interpretation 101-3 on Nonattest Services and the issue of outsourcing services to third-party providers were hot topics at a MACPA Ethics Task Force meeting in October.

AICPA Professional Ethics Division Director Lisa A. Snyder, CPA, met with the Task Force to update members on AICPA initiatives, answer questions regarding ethics investigation processes and hear suggestions from task force members – some with more than 20 years of experience.

Snyder reported the AICPA Professional Ethics Executive Committee is initiating projects on litigation support services, gifts and hospitality and retention of client records.

Charged with interpretation and enforcement of the Code of Professional Conduct, the Task Force meets eight to 10 times per year to discuss inquiries from the public and from CPAs and to investigate alleged violations. Investigations are conducted in cooperation with the AICPA through a joint investigative arm, the Joint Ethics Enforcement Program (JEEP).
