MACPA Member Appointed to Michigan Tax Tribunal

Judith R. Trepeck, of West Bloomfield, was recently appointed to the Michigan Tax Tribunal by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm to represent the CPA profession.

“I am proud to represent the profession at the Tribunal,” Trepeck said. “As a CPA, I represent the same sense of integrity, ethics and objectivity as the judicial system. The Tribunal works in a multidisciplinary fashion, allowing the CPA member to bring unique financial expertise to various issues including valuations, assessments and tax matters.”

Trepeck, president and CEO of The Trepeck Group, LLC, a business consulting firm, and a member of the MACPA, was appointed for a term commencing October 11, 2004, and ending June 30, 2005. She succeeds Karen B. McComb who has resigned.

Her other professional appointments include serving on the MACPA Michigan Accountancy Foundation Board of Trustees; chairing the MACPA Financial Literacy and Corporate Leadership task forces and serving on the MACPA Small Practitioners and Strategic Planning task forces.

A seven-member, multi-disciplinary administrative tax court, the Michigan Tax Tribunal has exclusive jurisdiction for all property tax matters. The Tribunal also has jurisdiction over final assessments concerning income tax; sales, use and withholding taxes; single business tax; motor fuel tax; tobacco products tax; and estate tax.
