From Michigan Board of Accountancy:
2009 License Renewal Information
By Carol Flores, Licensing Administrator, Board of
Accountancy, Bureau of Commercial Services, Department of Energy, Labor &
Economic GrowthCPA license renewal notices will be sent within
the first two weeks of November 2009 and expire December 31, 2009.
The Department encourages all licensees to utilize the on-line renewal
option! Please note that our on-line renewal program will be operational
within the first two weeks of November. Renewing your CPA license online is
much easier and faster than relying on mailed checks and applications. If
you do not have any changes to license information currently on file with
the Department, visit
www.michigan.gov/bcsrenewal to begin the process.
Instructions are available on your mailed paper renewal notice including
separate instructions for licensees that have name and/or address changes.
Please note that you will need your 10-digit license number to use the site.
If you have questions about obtaining the USERID and PASSWORD, we suggest
you email your question to
bcslic@michigan.gov. Please include your 10-digit
license I.D. number, your telephone number, and a description of your
problem. Finally, we encourage you to add “Accountancy Renewal” in the
subject line of your email.
Board of Accountancy staff expects a high volume of calls during the months
of November and December, therefore, we encourage you to utilize the
bcslic@michigan.gov
email address whenever possible.
Regarding Peer Review submissions, please do not attach peer review
information to your renewal. Attachments hinder our ability to process your
renewal expeditiously. In order to comply with the peer review reporting
requirements provided by MCL 339.729(2) and Rule 501(2), you will be
required to ensure or submit one of the following to the Department under
separate cover:
1. Ensure that your peer review results are posted and available on the AICPA's FSBA website; or,
2.
After January 1, 2010, you may file a copy of your "Acceptance Letter;”
"Review Scheduling Approval Letter;" or "Peer Review Program Engagement
Letter" to the Department. The Department will notify you if further
documentation will be necessary.
Please note that it is the Licensee’s responsibility to notify the
Department within 30 days after receipt of an adverse or second modified
(pass with deficiencies or fail) peer review report. If you choose not to
“opt-in” to the FSBA program, you may submit your notification directly to
the Department after January 1, 2010. Your notification should be addressed
to: The Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth, Bureau of Commercial
Services, Licensing Division, Attention: Board of Accountancy, PO Box 30018,
Lansing, MI 48909. Verbal testimony and documents are subject to disclosure
to the Department in the case of an adverse or second modified opinion.
Lastly, as we strive to refine and improve our services to Michigan licensed
CPAs, we wish to present you with an opportunity to contact us. Please feel
free to submit your comments and suggestions regarding the renewal process
to: Accountancy@michigan.gov.
