Legislative & Regulatory
With Election Day Nearing, Your MACPA PAC Involvement Is Critical

Election Day is not far away! The MACPA will need to cultivate relationships with new office-holders while strengthening existing bonds. Your involvement in the Political Action Committee is vital to the success of the MACPA’s advocacy efforts and now, more than ever, the CPA profession needs a strong voice in Lansing.

Why should I get involved in the MACPA PAC?

To ensure the accounting profession continues to have a strong presence in Michigan’s legislative and regulatory activities, as many individuals as possible should get involved in the political process. CPAs are without question among the busiest of all business professionals, and many lack the time necessary to protect the profession’s interests in the legislature. That’s why members have found participating through a financial contribution to the MACPA PAC is the fastest, easiest and most efficient way to contribute to these critical efforts.

Your contribution, combined with those of your colleagues, allows the MACPA PAC to make contributions that have far greater impact on candidates. A donation from a PAC with 16,000 members carries much more weight than an identical donation from a 5,000-member PAC, or even an identical donation from an individual. There is strength in numbers – this dynamic goes to the very heart of grassroots political advocacy.

As you consider making a contribution today, read what your colleagues have said about why they contribute:

A Strong Voice
"I contribute because the MACPA must have a strong voice in the legislature. It is especially critical in today's environment, where the profession's self regulation is under fire."

Wayne A. Pahssen, CPA
Fuller Somero & Pahssen PLC – Traverse City

An Effective Method
"I give to the MACPA PAC because in our political system we need to have advocates for a point of view. The MACPA PAC represents our profession and needs contributions so our views on issues affecting the profession get through to our elected representatives in an organized and effective manner. I believe our MACPA PAC is the most effective method for the CPA profession."

Sean C. Keenan, CPA
KMPG LLP – Detroit

Proactive Approach
“The reason I support the MACPA PAC is that there is a synergy with the pooling of resources. There is enough resource to make an impact and the only way we can implement change is through participation in the political process. It's simply an issue of being proactive versus reactive.”

Professor William H. Harvey, CPA
Henry Ford Community College – Dearborn

My Obligation, My Right, My Choice
“Over the past few years, I have seen what an impact we CPAs have had on the legislative process, and I have felt it is my obligation, my right and my choice to contribute to the MACPA PAC to keep our profession in the forefront and in the minds of our legislators, regardless of party affiliation.”

Jeffrey Aisen, CPA
Michigan Design Center

Now, listen to what your colleague in the legislature has to say about the importance of a strong PAC:

"As a CPA in Industry prior to my election, I was encouraged to pursue public service in the State House by the knowledge that the MACPA would stand behind me. The support of MACPA members was a key component in my victory, and I look forward to standing with CPA professionals from across the State of Michigan on matters of importance to our profession."

Daniel S. Paletko, CPA
Dearborn Heights Mayor
Former State Representative
