Gail Sparks Pitts – Leading Into A New Year
 |
|
Gail Sparks Pitts 2007-2008 MACPA Chair of the Board |
|
This, my very first Chair’s Message for Leaders’ Edge, comes on the heels
of an outstanding MACPA Awards Dinner. The individuals recognized at this
event are an inspiration to me as I step into the role of 2007-2008 Chair of
the Board.
All of our
honorees live very busy and committed lives. They give of
themselves to serve their clients and employers, they stay abreast of
current and emerging issues, they cherish family … all these demands and yet
they are never too busy to give of themselves to the profession and
community. For that, we acknowledge their incredible leadership and
unparalleled service.
I’d particularly like to recognize and thank Outgoing Chair Sean Keenan. He
has tremendous passion for this profession, and he’s opened many doors of
opportunity for those who follow him. I’m proud that he is not only my
colleague, but also my friend. It is a challenge to follow in the footsteps
of such an icon, but he has paved the way for a smooth transition.
As we move forward, I am committed to the vision and direction created for
the Association through our Strategic Plan. Our board and task forces as a
whole work together, carrying out our strategic initiatives. Providing
members with information and tools to be successful is of utmost importance,
especially during this time of economic strain in Michigan.
I encourage you to take advantage of all the MACPA has to offer. Get
involved on our task forces; “dig in” to the web site to discover a
treasure-trove of resources; and seek out our board, task force and staff
members to share your opinions and concerns. Certainly, over the next
several months the issues of CPA license mobility and implementation of the
new Michigan Business Tax will be of vital interest to many.
I am honored to serve as your chair, and I am humbled by the trust and
responsibility you have placed in me. Our successes will be accomplished as
a team – at MACPA, no one stands alone. I look forward to meeting, talking
and working with you this year.
